The best of British come together

Scotts of Thrapston, makers of the finest English summerhouses, has joined forces with eight other British companies to form the National Trust Garden Collection.
Set to be launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (stand PW38), the National Trust Garden Collection will offer a selection of gardening items ranging from Scotts of Thrapston summerhouses to garden gates; sales of which will generate income for the Trust’s conservation work.
The stand at Chelsea has been designed by Louise Harries. A graduate of the London College of Garden Design, Louise won a competition to design and build the stand, set to showcase the best in British design and craftsmanship for the National Trust.
Each item in the National Trust Garden Collection takes inspiration from the extensive gardens, buildings, collections and land in the National Trust’s care. Scotts of Thrapston, for example, has created two summerhouse designs with the National Trust – the Writers Retreat and the Reading Room. Both take inspiration from the outdoor structures once owned by two of our country’s literary greats, Virginia Woolf and George Bernard Shaw, whose properties are now under the care of the Trust.
